Meet Captain Karl
Captain Karl Lizza has spent his entire life in and around "Mother Ocean" as he likes to call it. He first fell in love with Hawaii in 1968 on a family vacation to Kona Village, he was 9 and he remembers getting in trouble for spending too much time in the ocean Snorkeling, sailing, fishing and any other water activities.
Growing up around boating communities in California, both Catalina Island and the San Francisco Bay area, he raced in several sailboat classes, sometimes at the national level. Since becoming scuba certified in 1975, he has logged over 3OOO dives on the Big Island not to mention other sites around the world. Since moving to Kailua-Kona in 1994, he has become on of the most experienced boat captains on the Kona Coast, especially with dolphins, whales and manta rays. His passion and enthusiasm is contagious and always has a marine related joke or two to share.
Captain Karl has a 100 ton masters license and has been a PADI Divemaster since 1998 and is CPR/first aid/first responder certified. He is also a professional musician who has played and performed violin music since the age of 4. When not on the ocean, you can find him at the golf course, working in his yard or enjoying the company of many friends, family and his doggie Ginger.
