Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.
All of our tours operate from Honokohau Harbor in Kailua Kona, Hawaii. That's on the Big Island. Your confirmation email will have the specific address and map to help get you there.
If you plan on getting in the water, YES. You will not be able to stand in any of the areas we take you snorkeling. However you are still welcome to join as there is much to see from the boat!
We are proud to provide industry-leading brands for all of our snorkeling tours. Our fins are Cressi Palau and our masks & snorkels are Sea Sports.
We provide all your snorkel gear but you are welcome to bring your own if you have it. We also provide a variety of hydrating beverages and light snacks. You are responsible for your own sun protection, meaning protective clothing and/or sunscreen (please no aerosol sprays) and your own towels.
If you choose to cancel 7 or more days from your scheduled tour you will receive a full refund. If you cancel under 7 days but more than 48 hours from your tour you will receive 50% back. You will not receive any refund if you cancel within 48 hours of your tour time. *Private charters require 7 days notice of cancellation or no refund will be issued.
Yes. If getting in the water you must be able to climb a narrow ladder to return to the boat. This requires balance and a bit of upper body strength. Our weight limit is 250 pounds. This is not for comfort sake but in consideration of if there were to be a medical emergency our crew need to be able to lift any of our passengers onto the boat.
Rest assured we are tapped in to many weather sources to be current on all forcasted conditions. In the event we cancel for inclement weather you will receive a full refund or be asked if you'd like to rebook another day.
This is a common question! And one we cannot give an answer to as no wildlife can ever be guaranteed. However, Hawaii is home to 26 species of dolphins and whales plus over 400 species of fish including rays and sharks! So it is not uncommon to find any number or combination of these animals on our trips. The best thing you can do is come with open expectations because every day is unique and exciting with what the ocean decides to show us.
This largely depends on two main factors. Firstly it depends on the animals and their behavior. We have decades of experience with these animals and it is up to the crew's discretion to determine if it is safe not only for you but for the animal's well-being. Secondly is our passengers swimming abilities. If you are not a very capable snorkeler we may have you stay on the boat. So practice up ahead of time to increase your chances!
Our crew is happy to snap some photos of you during the tour. But we cannot guarantee the amount taken as their priority is safety and making the tour experience itself the best it can be! If you would like to add a photography package you can do that in advance for a fee of $250. We also rent GoPros for you to use during the trip to capture your own memories. The rental fee is $50 and you keep the memory card or can connect directly to your phone for instant transfer of the media.
For those that are prone to seasickness we highly recommend you take Dramamine or Bonine (less drowsy) the night before and in the morning before your trip. We also carry on board preventative methods such as ginger chews and Sea-Bands. It is important to inform your crew if you begin feeling the motion of the ocean so they can help.
Our minimum age is 8. We do not have a set maximum age but keep in mind the nature of this excursion is an adventure ride and at times it may not be comfortable for members of your group much more advanced in years.
*If you have members outside this range please contact us and we can discuss private charter options
Our boat "Spirit" takes up to 6 passengers. This allows us to cater more to our smaller group and provides better opportunities than boats with larger crowds.
We usually don't run a tour with less than 4 paying passengers. If that is the case on a day you're booked we will call you the day before and give you options to either pay the extra seats to guarantee the trip, cancel and be refunded, or rebook another day. Because of this, we recommend you book us earlier in your stay in Kona rather than at the end.
This tour is not for those who are pregnant, have pre-existing heart conditions, or anyone with neck or back injuries. If you plan to snorkel you must be able to swim and also climb a short ladder back onto the boat. We also do not allow infants or any children under the age of 8.
